The Housemaid is getting a makeover. Directed by Paul Feig, The Housemaid was adapted from Freida McFadden’s novel series and stars Amanda Seyfried, Sydney Sweeney, and Brandon Sklenar. The adaptation was extremely successful and set a major milestone for both Feig and Sweeney as the psychological thriller grossed over $400 million worldwide at the box office.
Lionsgate has announced that a stage adaptation of The Housemaid is currently in development with producers Simon Friend and Hannah Osmolska (known for Paranormal Activity and Life of Pi) as well as playwright Bekah Brunstetter (known for The Notebook). The news comes after the official release date for the movie’s sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret, was announced as December 17, 2027. Lionsgate’s President, Global Products & Experiences, Jenefer Brown, released a statement about the upcoming adaptation:
