Several former WWE Champions, such as Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and The Rock, are speculated to return for the upcoming premium live event, SummerSlam. WWE SummerSlam is set to take place on August 3, 2024, at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
WWE has confirmed multiple matches, including Gunther vs. Damian Priest for the World Title, with other matches also in the planning stages. In the womens division, Bayley is set to face Nia Jax, the winner of the Queen of the Ring Tournament, for the WWE Womens Title. Additionally, the latest edition of WWE Raw announced that Liv Morgan will defend her title against Rhea Ripley in the Womens World Title picture.
In the WWE Undisputed title picture, speculation surrounds Cody Rhodes defending his title against Solo Sikoa. However, officials have not confirmed the match yet, but it is expected to be officially announced in the coming weeks. WWE has already filled out the match card for the show. Furthermore, reports of former WWE Champions Roman Reigns, The Rock, and CM Punk returning are generating significant buzz for the show.
Both Roman Reigns and The Rock participated in WrestleMania 40. The Rock is currently busy filming his upcoming movie The Smashing Machine alongside Emily Blunt. According to recent reports, Roman Reigns is anticipated to appear on the show, although not in a wrestling capacity. Recent reports have also provided updates on CM Punks in-ring status for WWE SummerSlam following his injury earlier this year.
CM Punk WWE SummerSlam return update: Probable but not 100% confirmed
CM Punk suffered a triceps injury at the Royal Rumble and has been out of action since. Despite his injury, Punk has regularly appeared on WWE programming, continuing to build his rivalry with Drew McIntyre. With SummerSlam just two weeks away, fans are eager to know about Punks potential in-ring return.
Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer provided an update on CM Punks status on Wrestling Observer. Meltzer mentioned that it is probable that Punk will be ready to return for SummerSlam. However, it is still not 100% confirmed that he will receive medical clearance for the show.
Meanwhile, CM Punk is scheduled to appear on WWE Raw next week. It will be interesting to see if he announces his in-ring clearance for SummerSlam.
